Happy 1st Birthday McKenna Grace!

3 Oct

McKenna turned 1 on September 25th surrounded by family we celebrated and had fun! She loved being the center of attention, opening gifts was an adventure, and we learned that she didn’t really like her hands getting messy from cake!

Such a fun day, I can’t believe only a year ago we were bringing her home and now I have a toddler. Being home with her this last year was the greatest thing that could have happened. I can’t wait to see what this next year holds for us!

Happy Birthday sweet baby girl. We love you!

Wait … today is Monday already?

14 Sep

McFatty Monday, I’ve missed a couple of you but don’t think you weren’t on my mind! This week I’m now down 8 lbs so slowly getting there.  Now as much fun as you are McFatty Monday, there is something MUCH more important to blog about.

McKenna is walking. On her own. A LOT. Oh and today, well today she was sitting in the middle of the room, put one knee under her then the other, then a foot on the floor and stood up. WITHOUT holding or touching anything. Can you tell it amazed me? =)

She’ll be 1 in only 12 days and I am just amazed by how fast it all went, how much she’s grown and learned. She’s ahead of many milestones, right on target for others and I’m constantly having to look up what she might be doing next.

So many cute video’s to come. Tonight after walking and wearing herself out she grabbed Eric’s wallet and pulled everything out. Then she said something to each piece of paper and threw it, grabbed it again, threw it, until she had moved every card and reciept about 10 times. At least she didn’t eat any of them. 😉

Dinner time fun

Tonight I made pesto from scratch thanks to the heaping amounts of basil my husband grew. McKenna loved it, along with her squash and honeydew melon. Towards the end of dinner I gave her a taste of my chicken that had a mild red curry sauce on top. She LOVED it and kept telling me to give her more by waiving her arms at me and pointing to my plate.

We have too much fun at dinner sometimes … here is her acting funny!

Happy 11 months McKenna!

27 Aug

Yesterday McKenna turned 11 months old! One more month and my baby will be a toddler! Yikes.

McKenna is saying: mama, dada, that, baby, buuu for book, baa – while pointing to bottle, and tries to say “light” while looking up at lights. I am thinking she also says “i like” but it comes out ” i iike.”

The girl has words and she loves to hear herself talk, babble, scream, sing, etc. When she sees a dog she says “woof woof” and barks, it’s adorable and I would love to get it on video.

We’re getting lot’s of hugs with sweet “awww’s” when she wants to be cuddly which isn’t often! There are things to do, places to go. She can climb 4 stairs all by herself ( with me right behind so she doesn’t go back down) and stands on her own pretty solid. We’re working on walking, she is great while holding onto things or with her push toys, but hesitant to try it by herself. The most we’ve had on her own is a step between the ottoman and couch.

So many big things, she is keeping me on my toes as always. I love it and cherish these days I have with her.

Taking a month-day picture is close to impossible since McKenna is always on the go. Here are a few funny out-takes from my time chasing her around. I really hope the photographer we hired is better than I am at getting a pose! 🙂

After dumping out her toy basket 2x, I think she was over it.
