Where did the last 3 months go?

26 Dec
They went to this adorable little girl, McKenna Grace, to be specific. Born on September 25th at 6:40 pm she weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and measured 19 1/2 inches long. She is our world.

One year ago yesterday, my Mom gave me a little pink Coach purse for Christmas. Little did anyone know then, but Eric and I had decided to start a family. I took this adorable purse by my favorite maker in pink to be a sign that we would in fact get our wish, and it would be a girl! A month later I was pregnant and sure enough pink would be the theme. The purse is now hanging on McKenna’s wall and I can’t wait for her to have it one day. From Grandma to Mom and then to Daughter.

Yesterday was McKenna’s first Christmas! Eric and I spent the morning opening gifts with her followed by a quiet day and then a late family get together at my Dad’s. Santa brought McKenna a Fisher Price Jumperoo which she didn’t know what to do with, but seemed happy enough and very bewildered. She’s still a little young! So far she is captivated by the parrot that dangles above her. Yesterday was also her 3 month Birthday! She has gone from 7 lbs 5oz to now 11 lbs 1 oz and in size 3 month clothing. Right on track!

Some major moments these last 3 months … rolling over tummy to back, smiling, finding her thumb (and entire hand), reaching for objects and grabbing them, making all sorts of cooing and laughing type noises, being able to hold her head up while sitting in the bumbo or on Mommy’s lap, and batting at dangling objects.

Some major Mommy moments … realizing that it was ok to go to sleep while she was sleeping and she would be fine, battling colic with every trick in the book and finally finding out what worked, buying a pair of jeans that was not from the maternity store, leaving McKenna with my Mom for an hour and seeing that they both survived, falling in love with Eric all over again watching him hold McKenna and lastly realizing that there will be days where I can’t do everything that I want but that is ok because time playing with McKenna is so much more important and rewarding than laundry or doing my hair. Things can wait, but time with her can’t.
